Virtualisation as a key area of interest for those interested in sustainable ICT. Edinburgh Napier University has already made great progress in virtualising a significant number of servers, and is now both extending this, and introducing server powerdown to gain the full energy and environmental benefits from its use. Scott Walkingshaw, Lead IT Developer (Servers), David Pentland, Lead IT Developer (Desktop), and Chris Smith (Senior IT Developer) shared their experiences/challenges and future plans.
