During session 2004 - 5, extra funds have been made available from the SFEFC
(Scottish Further Education Funding Council) to augment the training available from this Regional Support Centre. Extra
funds have also been made available to support the training provision offered by
RSC Scotland South & West and the SFEU (Scottish Further Education Unit).
This investment in the skills development of college staff is certain to result in valuable sector-wide benefits.
The joint programme of extra opportunities has been named eMerge: The e-Learning Staff Development
Programme.
Extra training opportunities are available from RSC Scotland North & East, consisting of in-depth project work, such as the Image Engine, as well as scheduled courses and non-scheduled courses.
Based on the training needs identified in the ETNA Report. The eMerge programme provides a varied range of activities to address these needs, taking into account pressures on staff time and varied college contexts. The conference will describe the experiences of the agencies to date in designing and offering e-learning staff development to colleges, and reflect on how these have helped colleges to achieve their objectives in learning and teaching. It will also consider the various ways in which colleges respond to external staff development opportunities

The Image Engine is a new initiative to train College staff in the acquisition, preparation and storage of images and - more importantly - the creative use of these images in the development of high quality online learning materials.
The first ever two day e-Olympics was held on September 23-24th in the Athens of the North. Delegates took part in an intensive training event designed to lead them through the stages of creating a learning object from a preliminary design and to load their final 'chunk' of online material into a learning repository.
All currently-scheduled training events are listed on our training page. This page includes further details about each event and a link to our online booking form.
Do you have training needs not addressed by our current training schedule? The RSC can provide training on ALL the elements identified here. Even if you don't see what you're looking for, we may be able to source the staff development you require. Simply contact us to discuss your needs. Subject to demand, we will then arrange a training event either at our Curriculab in Edinburgh, or in your own workplace.
