If you arrived here because you were looking for AccessApps, you have come to the right place!
AccessApps is one little brother in the big EduApps family. In fact, AccessApps has two more siblings: LearnApps and TeachApps. Getting confused? As you may gather, EduApps is the umbrella term for THREE different collections of portable and completely free software applications. They can all be downloaded from here onto a portable USB stick, so they can be with you wherever you go. [Read on for more details or proceed to download page now]
As the name implies, you may want LearnApps if you're a student. LearnApps includes many free software tools (and even some games) which will help you rightaway in your studies.
If you're a teacher, lecturer, or instructor, you may want TeachApps. Why do teachers need different applications from students? Good question. They don't really. Everyone never stops learning, right? However, there are a few things that we think teachers might want all on their own - like portable versions of Virtual Learning Environments, and things like that.
AccessApps is the original and now famous collection of portable open source and free software. With AccessApps you get a lot of the stuff that is on LearnApps and TeachApps, but you also get further specialised applications which are just what you need if you want - for example - to see the screen more clearly or could do with a bit of help with using a keyboard or mouse.
And you can have everything. You can decide, if you want to, to have some from one package, some from another and to mix and match to your heart's content. In this case, put on your safety belt and click on MyApps to get a blast of EVERYTHING that is available - more than 90 apps to choose from. Let us just say though - it looks scary to be confronted with a wall of description for 90 software packages. We recommend to go for MyApps only if you're, as they say in the trade, an 'advanced user'.
Right. Take the easy option. By far the most relaxing thing to do is to realise that here at the Regional Support Centre (Scotland North & East), we have already put things into those three generic groups: LearnApps, TeachApps and AccessApps. Just choose and click on the flavour that suits YOU best. Then go off and make a lo-o-o-o-ong cup of tea while your selected package downloads. Yes, with download sizes of between 567 and 817 megabytes for your selected package, you can make a few cups of tea while you're waiting. However, we can assure all visitors to this site that it's worth the wait.
If you can't spare a couple of hours for your Learn/Teach/AccessApps to download, or are on a restricted internet connection, then you always have the option to download CORE versions of each package. These are mightily trimmed back to between 59 and 80 megabytes in size. These options will also be best for you if your USB stick is not big enough for the full versions of any of the packages.
